An article in the Guardian discusses Minimum Pricing for Alcohol in Scotland
Proposals to introduce minimum pricing for alcohol in Scotland have received much publicity and are the subject of a recent article in the The Guardian.
While we are committed to doing all we can to help people with an alcohol addiction, we do not take a moral position on the consuption of alcoholic drinks.
People who want a drink will get one and tinkering with prices will do nothing to discourage patholigically dependent drinkers (aften called “alcoholics”).
At best, minimum pricing affects a few casual binge drinkers; it does nothing to help and treat those for whom alcohol has become a real problem.
